IELTS Speaking part 2 : An important decision you have made

An important decision you have made

One of the most important decisions I’ve ever made was choosing to switch my major from Business Administration to English Education during my second year of university.

At first, I enrolled in business because it seemed like a safe and practical choice. But after one year of studying, I realized that I wasn’t passionate about it at all. I had always loved English, especially teaching and communicating, so I started thinking seriously about changing my path.

I weighed the pros and cons, talked to my family, and even sought advice from one of my professors. Most people supported me, but some warned that it might be difficult to find a good job in education. Still, I decided to follow my intuition and go with what felt right.

The result of that decision was incredible. I felt much more motivated in my new major. I got involved in teaching assistant roles, attended workshops, and even started tutoring students. It became a turning point in my life and eventually led to new opportunities, like working at an English center and connecting with international communities.

I believe it was a life-changing decision because it allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and pursue something that truly makes me happy. Looking back, I have no regrets, and I know that choice has shaped my future in the best way possible.
